Get the app
Every version is free. The live version is the finished one; the test version has the newest features first.
- Web (any computer or Chromebook), live: play in your browser (version 1.3, with π Mix and an easier way onto the π world leaderboard). Nothing to install.
- Web, test: play the web test (the same as live today, version 1.3; new features show up here first). It uses the same players and scores as the live game in that browser.
- iPhone and iPad, live: get it on the App Store (version 1.2, with π Mix and the π world leaderboard). Version 1.3, an easier way onto the world leaderboard, is waiting for Apple's review.
- iPhone and iPad, test: install Apple's free TestFlight app, then open this test link on the iPhone or iPad. Right now it gives version 1.2 (build 16); version 1.3 (build 18) comes to the link after Apple checks it for testers.
- Android, live: download the Android app, tap the file, and allow "Install unknown apps" when Android asks. Google Play is coming soon.
- Android, test: download the full Android app (version 1.3.1, build 8, with π Mix, an easier way onto the π world leaderboard, and a way to report a name or block a family there). It downloads Sunny's voice once on first launch (about 390 MB), so use Wi-Fi. It installs over the live Android app on that phone.
All of them are also on the downloads section of the main page.
It doesn't hear me
- Open the iPhone Settings app β Times Tables and make sure Microphone and Speech Recognition are on.
- In the game, tap βοΈ β Test the microphone and say a number.
- In the car, put the phone where it can hear everyone, and speak up a little over road noise.
The voice is too fast, too slow or too quiet
- Tap βοΈ β Game voice, then drag the π’ / π slider. Normal resets it.
- Pick a different voice from the same menu; choosing one plays a sample.
- Turn up the volume. The game uses normal media volume, so it also plays over car Bluetooth.
Play without talking
Choose Tap it on the home screen to answer with a keypad.
Players
- Tap someone's picture on the home screen to put them in or out of today's game (up to four at once). Their progress is always kept.
- Press and hold a picture to edit or delete a player.
Progress and the leaderboard
- Tap the π button on the home screen to see "Who knows what", a grid of every fact from needs-practice to automatic.
- The leaderboard on the home screen shows this week and all time. Progress is kept on each device unless you choose to save it online (below).
The π world leaderboard
- It's off unless a parent turns it on. The easy way (web now, iPhone and iPad 1.3): open the leaderboard's π World tab and tap Join the world leaderboard. A parent signs in on that screen if needed, switches on each player, types the first letter of their last name and taps Save. After a round, the game may also ask "Show Lane on the world leaderboard?"; Yes, set it up opens the same screen.
- Before a player goes on, a grown-up confirms: Face ID or the passcode on iPhone and iPad, a fingerprint, face or screen lock on Android, and a confirm box on the web. Turning a player off never asks.
- In the iPhone and iPad app 1.2 (on the App Store today), it's one player at a time: sign in with the family account (βοΈ Settings β Family account), then press and hold the player's picture, turn on Show on the world leaderboard, type the first letter of their last name and tap Save.
- Only their first name and last initial (like "Lane S."), their animal and their points are shown, and only to people signed in to the game. Names are letters only and checked against a list of words that aren't allowed.
- To take a player off, turn their switch off on the World leaderboard screen, or press and hold their picture and turn the switch off. The row is removed right away. Deleting the player or the account removes it too.
- See a name that isn't OK? Tap the flag (β) next to it and choose Report. It disappears from your board right away, and we review every report and remove names that aren't OK. You can also email privacy@agrowthfactory.com with the name and we'll take it down.
Saving scores online, and deleting an account
- Playing never needs an account. On the website and in the Android app, a parent can save the family's scores online, so they follow you to another device. In the iPhone and iPad app it's in βοΈ Settings β Family account (Sign in with Apple or Google), version 1.1 and later.
- To delete an account: βοΈ Settings β Family account β Delete account (for a player's own account: Manage β Delete account). Sign in once more to confirm, and the account and everything saved to it are permanently deleted. Scores on your device stay there.
- For an account a device isn't using any more: βοΈ Settings β "Delete an account you used beforeβ¦".
- Or email privacy@agrowthfactory.com and we'll delete it for you. More in the privacy policy.
