Governor Granholm,
Congratulations on being appointed Secretary of Energy! This is an exciting opportunity. I’m excited because I know that you will take a fair and scientific approach to our national energy and environmental needs.
Please, as you take this new role, consider embracing and expanding our use of Nuclear Energy. Solar and Wind are important and have made rapid advancements but because of the challenges with energy storage, we can’t rely on them for base load energy demands (yet!). If we want to move quickly to reduce our Carbon footprint, which I know you believe we should, the only immediate solution that makes mathmatical sense is Nuclear energy.
I understand that there are a lot of myths that exist about Nuclear energy and you have a very big NIMBY/regulation problem, but I am confident you’re the kind of leader that can educate Americans on the facts about Nuclear. Once Americans learn that nuclear energy is safe, clean, reliable, and Carbon neutral, I’m certain they will get on board.
