On March 31, 2017, Travis Stoliker announced that he had been nominated and elected to the Board of Capital Community Angel Investors — a Lansing-area network of accredited investors focused on funding early-stage Michigan companies. The election formalized his entry into the organized angel investing community following Liquid Web's $224 million sale to Madison Dearborn Partners in 2015.

Capital Community Angel Investors provided early-stage capital and mentorship to promising Michigan startups — the kind of hands-on investor support Travis valued and had benefited from as an entrepreneur himself. His election to the board came during the same period he was serving as entrepreneur-in-residence at the MSU Conquer Accelerator and actively building his personal investment portfolio, which already included Saddleback BBQ and would later include Gyroaster.

The board role gave Travis a structured platform for channeling both capital and expertise into mid-Michigan's startup ecosystem. It reflected the same mission he had stated publicly after the Liquid Web sale: to support local entrepreneurs, because he understood from the inside how hard it is to build something from nothing, and because the Lansing business community had given him the same support when he needed it.
