I sold my jetski on Ebay almost 2 months ago and for the past 10 days I’ve been dealing with hell. The guy that I sold it to filed a “Not as described - Claim” against me for $1,000 dollars saying that he couldn’t register the trailer and it didn’t “run right.” Essentially, the money is supposed to be “held” in my paypal account until this is figured out but PayPal’s automatic charge thing made a mistake and is now taking the $1,000 even though the claim is bogus!

I emailed my credit union (Lafcu) about this on saturday when I found out they were trying to charge my account but since Lafcu is small they didn’t have anyone I could report this fraud to. Today (monday morning) I got a call from Lafcu saying that it was too late the $1,000 was taken from my account at 7:55am this morning, 5 minutes before they opened. SUCK!

I worked with Lafcu and I finally found someone who would listen to me, now i “Think” that everything is better. The $1,000 is supposed to reappear in my bank account tonight (fingers crossed) and I have successfully canceled all of the account numbers associated w/ my paypal account.

The sucky part is, the “claim” is still open on paypal and I don’t know how long it will take for them to decide to look at it. It pisses me off because even the guy on the phone from paypal said that the buyer is “not making any sense” and “this doesn’t seem like a valid claim” — but even though its not valid, I still have to wait months to get my money.

Beware of Ebay/ Paypal scams. This was my first lesson.
